looking for an alternative to picnik?
The world cried out in anguish (um, for real, I'm not being dramatic) when Picnik announced that it would be closing its doors in April. Someone has heard that cry and if you are frantically searching for an alternative to edit your photos, I think this post will make you very happy.
I played around with PhotoShop Elements. I toyed with the idea of Picasa. I checked out all the alternatives that people mentioned. But I just didn't like them. Praise the Lord for smart dudes.
The smart dudes that made Picnik so awesome have created PicMonkey. And it's awesome. It has many of the same features that Picnik has and they are adding more features daily. Collage has yet to appear, but I know they are taking many requests from users and this is a big one. The controls are so similar to Picnik's that you won't have a problem jumping right in. Seriously, go play around and I think you'll love it.
Then you can come back and high-five me and we can all take a big sigh of relief.

high five! sigh of relief! LOVE IT!!!
ReplyDeletei use photoshop to edit my photos usually, but this is such a nice alternative to quickly add a filter. thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeletei wish I had the patience to learn photoshop because I bet it would be a really great tool to use. I do love the quick and easy aspect of these online editing programs though!
DeleteYay! Thanks for the link! I do love PicMonkey, you were right. :)
ReplyDeletehow did u find this? i love picnik and have been searching for something similar!. :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't remember how I stumbled upon it! But I've seen several people mention it recently and it's even on the front page of Picnik as a suggestion, so I think it's starting to get the recognition it deserves!
DeletePicMonkey is awesome. Can't wait for them to get the collage feature up & running!
ReplyDeleteAWESOME! I was wondering what would take picnik's place and this blows picnik out of the water! Thanks for sharing:)

I like picmonkey as well. Actually, I think I like it better than picnik.
ReplyDeleteMy husband bought me photoshop, but I am at such a loss.... going to take me forever to figure it out!
Wow. I seriously can't believe they got rid of Picnik. I knew they were but I thought they'd chicken out...I'm glad there is an alternative for it!!
ReplyDeleteThank you sooooo much Lindsay. Just tried it out on a couple of pictures and it's great! I'm really excited to use this in the future. Oh, and I'm totally with you on Photoshop.
ReplyDeleteAhh! Your amazing!! I was so dissapointed when I saw they were shutting down. I just used it a few days ago and thought to myself that it was the last time I would be able to edit my pictures! Im so happy now!! Thank you so much!! Your a life saver! ;)
ReplyDeleteYAY! Thanks for the recommendation! I got the e-mail today from Picnik reminding me that they were closing (so so sad).. I use picasa, but it's just not as great a picnik!
ReplyDeleteI just discovered pic monkey yesterday. It's the best!
ReplyDeleteYAAAAAAAYYYYY!!!! thank you so much for this tip :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I was wondering what I was going to do without Picnik!

ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the link! Love this new site!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome, I normally use Photoshop but I might try this as well and see if it is easier and quicker... which I am sure it is. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteInstagram for Droid last week and PicMonkey this week... AWESOME! You are the coolest!
ReplyDeleteBIG HIGH FIVE! Great find! I was so sad to hear that Picnik was going away but I'm excited to try out PicMonkey! Thanks Lindsay!
ReplyDeleteNo kidding!! I was soooooooooo sad about Picnik!!! I have been trying to learn GIMP, which is a free software similar to Photoshop. I'm getting there but it's definitely nice to be able to do fix up photos fast and not have to think too much about it. lol I think PicMonkey will be seeing a lot of me! Ever try Pixlr? It's simpler but still fun for a quick touch up!
ReplyDeleteThe Monkey reaches up and high fives you right back! Thanks for the Monkey love. We on the team really love seeing it... plus it didn't hurt that you called us smart dudes. Be sure to let us know if there's any features you really need! Yes, we know about collages and the Monkey is working overtime to make the most awesome collage tool out there; it's taking some time but the wait will be worth it we think.
ReplyDeleteThanks again for spreading the word about PicMonkey! Cheers, Brenda (PicMonkey Team)
*High Five*
ReplyDelete(I think I love you.)
So which one do you use for your lovely instagram collages?
ReplyDeleteHIGH FIVE!!! THANKYOU for sharing. i was using photobucket and wanted to cry every time i used it because it made me miss the ease of Picnik that much more.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you usually do when you edit your photos? I can never get mine to look airy. They always look dull. Maybe I'm just a bad photographer!
