a 4moms review and Mamaroo giveaway!

Over the course of my past six years blogging, I've had the opportunity to work with close to one hundred small businesses and companies. And by far, one of the most generous and fun to work with is 4Moms. I love that they donate so many of their unique rockers to NICUs around the country, and this month, they are celebrating the new Mamaroo rocker with giveaways every day. I'm super excited to team up with them today to give a Mamaroo away to one of you! You've probably seen their stylish and techy baby gadgets around the blogosphere-- they're smart, gorgeous, and babies and parents everywhere are loving them. And the Wilkins fam is on board-- their products are a major hit at our house.


When Silas was an infant, he barely slept all day, and all night. I'm tired now just thinking about it. Practically the only thing that would get him to sleep would be his bouncer, which I had to rock with my foot. He liked to rock hard and would start stirring as soon as I even hinted at slowing down. I'd stand at the kitchen counter and rock, sit on the couch and rock, paint at my desk and rock. All day. Erry day. I would have killed for something like the Mamaroo. 

Thankfully Delia is a much better sleeper, and an easier baby all around. But my arms still get rubbery if I try to hold her all day, and she likes motion just as much as Silas did. To the rescue comes the new Mamaroo (or as Silas says, the "Mommy-woo".) Sleek, gorgeous, and versatile, it's where you'll find Delia during the day, unless she's in my arms or playing on the floor. It's tucked in next to our couch, between the living room and dining room, where D can keep an eye on all the happenings. 

The new Mamaroo has five different motions, with varying speeds, that mimic the crazy mom dance (you know what I'm talking about-- I think I look like a crazy person when I'm trying to get her to calm down in my arms!). It has built-in white noise ( that's Silas' job, and he takes it pretty seriously...), and even an auxiliary cable to play your favorite Pandora lullaby station. And the coolest part? The new app (available for Android and iPhone) lets me change the motion, speed, and white noise volume all from my phone. 

The Mamaroo doesn't replace me, but it gives me my arms back so I can play train tracks with Silas, fix dinner, or even just drink my coffee before it's icy cold. Silas will even tell me, "Mom, put her down, put her in the Mommy-woo!" if he needs a little bit more attention from me. I love that the Mamaroo helps me do my mom job just a little bit better.

  2. My husband is the only one who can bounce my girl hard enough to put her to sleep, so that sucks when he's at work! She's never been a good sleeper. I'm hopeful that's a first child thing? LOL!

  4. Admittedly I have no idea how to cope with a newborn as I will be a first time mom in June, but I imagine that a lot of prayers is involved in staying sane with a new little babe. I plan on just taking it one day at a time.

  10. I'm really not sure HOW I'll stay sane! But I definitely think having a great place like this to put one twin down while I tend to the other would help! We registered for two (girl can dream!), and I'm sorta bummed they don't come in "Momma size"!

  14. I would LOVE a mamaroo. We are due w twins any day now and its high on my want list. My husband is gone w work for 12+ hours a day, up to 6 days a week and we have no family/friends close by. A place to rock one baby while I rock another would make a mamaroo my new best friend!

  16. Journaling a few minutes a day really helps me. This time around has been so different since I also have a 2 year old who wants to be held & cuddled. A shower also sometimes does the trick.

  19. I think the best thing I've done for myself is to wake up at least one hour before the kids. Having that time to take a shower, eat my breakfast, and do a quick wake-up workout is invaluable. I also make a list of three MITs (most important tasks) for the day which help me stay focus and not so overwhelmed.

  30. Having the house to myself for a short bit is amazing. My husband loves to grocery shop so he takes the little monkey every Sunday afternoon so I have an hour or so to myself. Hoping it continues with number 2 in June!

  64. I would love to have one of these! My daughter wants to be held ALL the time and cries when I put her down. I have a 3 year old son and I feel like such a bad mom because I am not able to give him the one on one attention he deserves. He asks to play and I'll put my daughter down and she cries. So I pick her up and he says, "put her down, please!" It breaks my heart.

What trying keeps me sane when having newborns at home is being able to take a shower longer than 10 minutes, being able to have some hot coffee while the coffee is still hot, being able to have an adult conversation with someone other than my 7 & 2 year old, and maybe just maybe putting on some make up and taking selfies with my 2 kids and our newest addition! We all know we LOVE & we are all guilty of taking tons of pictures of our kids when our babies are so tiny!

  89. Taking turns napping and showering. He cooks, I clean. I go to work for a few hours while he babysits then he goes to work for a few hours while I babysit. When she is upset we take turns going through trial and error to determine what's upsetting her. Having a good father to my child who is willing to work just as hard as I do...that's enough to keep me sane.

  95. My mother living close by is such a blessing. She comes over in the morning and takes my 7 year old to school and then comes back and watches the baby for me so that I can relax and take my time taking a hot shower. I don't have to rush and I get enjoy the hot water.

  107. It's been 4 years since we've had a newborn in the house, so it will be a refresher course in March when Baby Boy #2 arrives. My favorite way to stay sane with a newborn in the house is to welcome the help of my mom, who is also a NICU nurse... hubby and I welcome her help... truly the best!

  109. I have no idea how I'll cope once our little peanut comes. I'm a PICU nurse and am somewhat used to crying fussy babies. However those aren't my babies and I get to go home to peace & quiet after 12 hours. I'm a little worried about my sanity. My girlfriends all swear by the mamaRoo though. My work has them for the more stable babies and I do love them when I get to use them. Sadly, not enough of my patients are stable enough to leave their hospital beds. Thank you for this opportunity!!

  126. I wake up earlier then everyone else in the house. It's the only time I get to myself. Sometimes I watch Tv sometimes and I just sit and think and sometimes I enjoy a hot cup of tea and just enjoy the sunset. I don't get to do this everyday but I make a point to squeeze it in once a week.

I could be totally sleep deprived, starving and beyond exhausted, but i find my sane moment once i get my little guy to sleep which can sometimes take hours, i find my sane moment while holding him in my arms, watching him smile in his sleep.   132. Honestly, the newborn stage is one of my most favorite and treasured times. It's difficult, it feels like the hours are crazy and the needs are endless...but there's something about their vulnerability, their complete adoration and want for their mama, and being such an intricate and important part of their transition from womb to world that is just amazing. My best coping skill has always been to go with baby's flow and accept that it's only for a season. Admittedly Im a bit nervous this time around; I already have 3 ages 10 and under and I'm a little worried about keeping up with the current needs of the family while introducing a new baby to the mix. But, being a mom is one lf those things you just do. How we do it? I don't know, lol...but we just do. Something like a mamaroo is such a blessing because our hands seem tied nearly constantly.

  140. There's a way to stay sane!?!? With my last son, I has a cup of coffee every mornin and 1time a week I went out for an espresso martini(just one because of pumping!) but it was delightful!!! I put one nice clothes, did my hair and got that yummy martini. With two little boys about to be in the house, I hope I have time for these little tasty treats!!!

  164. A nice hot shower helps me feel sane! I feel a lot more accomplished when at the end of the day I actually got out of my pajamas...even if it was for only 4-5 hours. :) -Kimi

  165. In February we will finally have our newborn, but I imagine finding time to take my dogs fire a walk and finding time to exercise will be wonderful. I miss being mobile!

  166. Taking about 30 minutes to yourself everyday is seriously everything -- even if its just time alone in the bathroom after a shower. I have a two month old and a five year old -- trust me, it gets wacky!!

  172. Hi, what I learned from having my first baby is to nap when the baby napped, might not be everytime she napped, but I would definitely take advantage of a nap when I could. I would get ready everyday even if I wasn't going anywhere, not all dolled up, but I would shower and get ready for the day. The last thing I enjoyed was getting out for a walk everyday
