Aloha Stephanie! Could you tell Aisle to Aloha readers a bit about yourself?

Aloha!  I am a wife, mommy, Christian and jewelry maker.  Up until a few months ago, I worked in the banking industry, but now I am incredibly blessed to be able to stay home with my son and pursue my dream of having my own business.






What is the story behind your sweet business? 

I’ve always been an artistic person but never really knew what my creative outlet was until I started making jewelry.  It started as a hobby when I was pregnant, but once I took my first Metalsmithing class I knew I had finally found my passion.  I started with a small Etsy shop, and then decided to rename/rebrand my business and focus on my own website.  Silverandhoney.com was born shortly after but I am still changing, learning new things and striving to improve my work.  I only wish I had enough time to do all of the things I want to do!




 What is the most special piece of jewelry you own or have owned in the past? What does it mean to you?

I have a necklace with a small diamond pendant that was given to me by my mother.  It was made from a pair of diamond earrings owned by my Great Grandmother.  She was an amazing woman, kind, gentle and full of love and she is the kind of person that I strive to be one day.  When she passed, my mother had the earrings made into two diamond necklaces.  She gave one to my sister and the other to me. 



If you could offer any piece of advice to small business owners, what would you say? 

Don’t freak out if you aren’t immediately successful!  It takes time to get your business out there and everyone has to start somewhere.  So don’t give up!  If you are doing what you love and doing it well, someone will notice and a way will open up!

    My favorite piece of jewelry is a 14k gold heart that my aunt gave to me 10 years ago for my birthday. My twin sister has one identical to it so it is really special to me. :-)

    The most special piece of jewelry I own would be my Grandmother's 6 birthstone ring. It holds her birthstone as well as the birthstones of her 5 brothers and sisters. It's stunning. She left it to me when she passed last year. Love it to pieces!

    I have a gold locket that my grandfather gave my grandmother while they were dating. It's from the 40s and had a picture of him in his Navy uniform in it. He gave it to her when he was shipping out to WWII.

    She gave it to me before she died, and I treasure it!

    My favorite piece of jewelry belonged to my grandmother and has each of the birthstones of her sons. After she passed, it went into a jewelry box and the sons have yet to decide who will end up with it. But it's by far my favorite piece of jewelry.

    I have a stainless steel ring that my boyfriend gave me with the verse Jeremiah 29:11.

    While it is probably my cheapest treasured jewelry, it means so much to me. The stainless steel was chosen in careful consideration of my sensitive skin-- so I can wear the ring all the time!

    My most special piece of jewelry is a necklace my grandparents gave me. It's a very thin gold chain with one gold ring, one white gold ring and one rose gold ring. I adore that necklace and it always makes me think of my grandparents.

    I have a plain sterling silver band that I wear on my fit ring finger. My dad gave it to me on Easter. He told me to wear it and think of him whenever I missed him (he travelled a lot for business). A month later he went to be with the Lord. I haven't taken it off since!

    My favorite piece of jewelry would be my spoon ring. I wear it every day and love it! I typically wear the same jewelry every day, but my spoon ring is special because it's something that I wanted for so long and it took me a long time to find and purchase one that I loved.

    I should say my engagement ring (which I totally love) but my favorite piece is a mama bird necklace from The Vintage Pearl. It is a copper bird with a single pearl "egg" that stands for my son. Love it! Love those earring you are giving away too!
