oh baby:: 11 weeks!
blouse and green jeans:: {forever 21}

bracelet:: {actually a necklace I bought in Spain}
ring:: {american eagle, a million years ago}
wedges:: {payless}
I'm not normally planning on doing outfit posts and baby bump posts simultaneously, but it just worked out that way this week, so for now, you get a two-fer. A double whammy.
I hit 11 weeks on Monday! Right now, I feel like my bump just makes me look as if I ate a large lunch. So I've been wearing things a little on the flowier side until I feel like the bump looks like baby and not tacos.
Yesterday, we got to see gummy bear again. The nice thing about having some fertility issues is that we've gotten more ultrasounds than I think many women have through their whole pregnancy, just to check on how the babe is growing. I'm so thankful for that and it's really helped to ease my mind.
I'm in awe of the way Chris is taking care of me. Some days, this nausea (not to mention exhaustion and headaches) has me knocked out on the couch, with no desire or energy to do anything. He has been preparing every dinner, without complaints (except when I'm just too picky and won't decide on what to eat!) and cleaning up afterwards too. I have to take my thyroid medicine on an empty stomach, so each morning, he brings my pill and water in first thing so that I can eat something as soon I wake up. He's been so understanding if the house is wreck all week and gives the baby pep talks to give mama a break every now and then. I really am so thankful for that man.
He's also said some pretty funny things::
(a few weeks ago)
Chris:: Aw, your baby bump is so cute already.
Me:: Um, pretty sure that's just bloat right now.
Chris:: Oh, hm, that's not as cute.
After worshipping at our church, which has incredibly loud music.
Chris:: So, does the baby have ears yet? Maybe we should put noise canceling headphones on your belly!
Thankfully, I seem to have found some good methods for keeping the nausea from being too bad, but it would definitely help if I could just cancel out my sense of smell for the next few months! My gag reflex is way too sensitive. Chris said the word "chicken" the other day and I gagged and said, "Please don't say that word." He looked at me like I was completely whacko, which I definitely feel sometimes. ;)
lindsay
lindsay, I am so so happy for you. you are going to be a beautiful mommy and your life will never be the same. congrats my friend.
ReplyDeletejust wanted to say that chris is an AMAZING photographer...he's got a really good eye for composition and style! your bump is adorable. i swear, the second i saw those two lines for the first time, i immediately quit sucking in and looked like i was about 6 months along. cute way to document this journey. wish i would have done something like that. also, love your design style with your collages and pics! :)
ReplyDeletehaha, uh oh, when I show him your comment, he's going to get a big head. ;) But I agree, he does such a great job with my pictures. So thankful for his patience when I say "okay, just a few more". ;) Thanks so much, Hannah-- I've had a lot of fun playing around with photography and design!
Deletethis is not good for me to read... i am SO worried that i'm going to be sick when i'm pregnant (some day far off in the future) and i can not, will not throw up... and can't handle nausea....
ReplyDeletemy heart goes out for you & i'm so glad chris is babying you and your little nugget!!
it sucks, but you'll be able to handle it for your baby. The joy far outweighs the suckiness of it all!
Deletei craved spaghetti-o's with my first, fruit loops with my second, and applejacks and subway with my third. yea, pregnancy does all kinds of weird stuff :) so happy for you! take it easy mama :)
ReplyDelete:) I just hit 11 weeks on Monday too (with #2). Try hard candy for the nausea (think lemon heads, jolly ranchers, life savers) and eat smaller more frequent meals (i found that hunger just made things worse).
ReplyDeleteHehe. I'm sorry that I'm laughing, but I just remember being in your shoes. My husband behaved similarly and was only frustrated when I didn't know what I wanted to eat or was too picky. I understand some words causing your gag reflex to start up. Mine lasted about 20-24 ish weeks. I hope yours doesn't last as long! Thankfully it seems like it was so long ago now! We're actually due in 2 days! :)
ReplyDeleteooh, so excited for you!
DeleteYou are too cute for words with your baby bump! My friend had the same exact symptoms with the c-bird word. She couldn't look at or hear the word without gagging, so I guess you are not alone :)
ReplyDeleteI'm with Hannah on the "quit sucking in" page! Haha! I am now 28 weeks along. When I am standing I definitely look and feel pregnant. When I am sitting, it feels like my regular flabby tummy. :P
ReplyDeleteGot a question about ultrasounds though...I see many Americans get ultrasounds really really early, when the baby still looks like a bean. In Canada we get one ultrasound, unless there are complications, at 18 weeks, and you can see the different limbs and the profile of the head. Is there a reason you have it so early?
I am also kind of a little jealous of your nausea, as silly as that sounds. I never got sick, and so my husband never had the chance to cater to my every need or wait on me hand and foot. Even now, I don't have strange or strong cravings so he can run to the store for or anything like that. I feel like I am missing out on some major spoiling! Haha!
Hey Larissa! I'm not 100%, but I think there are several reasons for early ultrasounds. I was given mine in the beginning to make sure the pregnancy was "viable" (not an ectopic pregnancy, etc. ), check on the baby's heartbeat and because my cycles were off, to see how far along I was by measuring the baby. The one we had yesterday, they were actually just checking for the heartbeat with a doppler (no image) but when they couldn't find it, they did the ultrasound with image. Interesting to hear that different countries do things so differently!
DeleteOh Larissa, I sure hope when I'm preggo, that I don't get sick! Lol
DeleteI actually agree with Larissas-- not so much for the spoiling, but since at this stage, I can't feel the baby, it really helps the pregnancy to feel "real" and let's me know my body is working hard. Though it would definitely be nice to not feel sick, I'm thankful for the reminder that I've got a babe in there!
DeleteYou are looking so great with your little bump! So sorry that you are nauseous all the time, but it's great to hear the Chris is taking such amazing care of you. I'm sure that helps a lot!
ReplyDeleteAdorable, Lindsay! I feel for you. I was SO so sick during both of my pregnancies that a word could simply send me to the porcelain God. You'll find what works for you though. Hope the nausea lets up soon!
ReplyDeleteI deal with nausea daily for some unknown reason and I have found that pure peppermint tea is a lifesaver in the mornings. It tastes kinda...not like I would drink it daily if I didn't have the nausea. Lol but you learn to like it.
ReplyDeletePeppermint hard candies is great too, I suck on them and it lasts a half hour! A couple times I have fallen asleep with one in my mouth haha
YES! Peppermint tea has been one of my go-tos as well! I actually really love it anyway, so that helps! ;)
DeleteSo exciting - enjoy every minute, morning sickness and all!!
ReplyDeleteI really love that blouse. It looks adorable on you and I am sure you will be able to wear it for many months to come. Have you decided where you will get most of your maternity clothes when the time comes? I've heard that Forever 21 has a line but have never tried it. I stuck with Target, Old Navy, and Gap when I was pregnant 5 years ago. You have so many more options now. I hope you are feeling better soon. My nausea lasted weeks 7-21 and was definitely worse if I let too much time go by without eating. You have a great attitude towards it and truthfully after that baby comes, you won't even remember how much that part of it sucked. =) I also like the layouts you have been using on your blog. Do you use Photoshop or something else? I'd like to jazz up my own blog.
ReplyDeleteHey Monica, not sure on the maternity clothes yet. Planning to wait as long as possible before I delve into that. Honestly, I'm going to try to buy things that I'll be able to wear after the baby, so maybe not as much "maternity" clothes. But I have heard great things about Target, ON and Gap's maternity sections! I'm definitely excited for the bump to grow and for the challenge of putting together outfits as it does! :)
DeleteLove the outfit! And Chris sounds like such a sweetheart- you're so blessed to have him!
ReplyDeleteAwe congrats!!! Love the outfit too!

<3 :)
LOVE the wedges. I too craved toast in my first trimester. I thought that was kind of a random one. Not weird, just unexpected.
ReplyDeleteDang, look at you in those green jeans, fabulous! And I love your little 'taco belly'. :)
ReplyDeleteIf my blog had a "like" button I would like your comment, Katie. Hehe, taco belly.
Deletei can tell already, I am going to love these blog updates! :D
ReplyDeletexoxo!
Des.
How cute do you look? Love your outfit lady, especially the bump!
ReplyDeleteYou are too cute with your bump! I'm seven weeks (maybe only 6, will see next week) and after two miscarriages I would LOVE to have some nausea for the reminder. So far this one has been easy and I don't feel pregnant at al yet. Praying for healthy babies!
ReplyDeleteI love that you gagged over the word "chicken." hahaha! When I was pregnant, there were a couple weeks I would throw up every time I brushed my teeth. That was sick... Hope it doesn't happen to you. Haha
ReplyDeleteblech. Yeah, I've done that. No fun.
DeleteI'm so excited to follow you on this journey and read all about it and keep reading your awesome weekly posts i love this blog!!!
ReplyDeletethanks Nora! Your comment made me smile!! :)
Deleteexcited for you and your growing family!
ReplyDeleteI LOVED pickles when I was pregnant with my son. My husband actually brought me 4 different types to work. Loved ice cream too, but not together! I totally understand the gag reflex thing and yes, throwing when your brushing your teeth pregnant is not fun!
ReplyDeleteAnd love those wedges!
I feel your pain! I'm 9 weeks along and some days it's all I can do to muster up the energy to even walk down the stairs. My poor husband can't even make coffee in the morning anymore, because as soon as I smell it - it's over ;)
ReplyDeleteGood luck! I hope the nausea goes away soon. ~ Andi
How exciting! I went through a (non-pregnant) pickle phase a few years ago, lol!
