my skincare routine

Last year, I went on a mission to rid our house and my bathroom cabinet of toxic products. That's when I began focusing on my skincare routine a little bit more, and researching the things I was putting on my face. I feel like I'm at a really good spot with my skincare routine, so I thought I'd share the products I'm loving lately!

First of all, my skin probably best fits into the "normal" category. I don't have any acne issues, and my skin isn't particularly dry or oily. My main concerns for skincare are keeping it clean, keeping it moisturized through the winter months, and I'm looking for a more even tone overall.

I've read that the correct way to apply skincare products is to go from the thinnest product, to the thickest. Hydrating mist would be the thinnest, moisturizer the thickest. That's how I apply them to my skin, so, I'll share my favorite products in that order.

I'll be posting some videos on my Instagram Stories to talk more about each product, and show you how I use them! Hop over there later this afternoon to learn more!

Tip: Many of these products (especially OSEA Malibu's) come in travel sizes. A great way to try out a product  that you're unsure about- and often last me a very long time!

Facewash

OSEA Malibu's Ocean Cleansing Milk- I love how simple and effective this cleanser is. It's non-foaming (foaming washes tend to be really drying!) and leaves my skin feeling fresh.

OSEA Malibu's Ocean Cleansing Mud- Not currently using this one, but I used it for awhile, and it has a lovely tingly minty feel. It's best for oily/blemish prone skin.

Toner

Pixi's Glow Tonic- Goodness gracious, I love this stuff. I noticed a brighter, more even tone in my skin the day I started using it. The glycolic acid works as an exfoliator in place of scrubs, which can often leave microtears in your skin. I use this each morning after I wash my face.

Pixi's Glow Peel Pads- A more intense version of the product above. I use these in the evening, wait about two minutes, and rinse my face with cool water. They tingle more than the tonic does, because the peel pads are 20% glycolic acid, vs. the 5% in the tonic above. I will sometimes even swipe the pad over my lips (if they aren't too chapped!) for some extra exfoliation there.

Hydrating Mist

BeautyCounter's Nourishing RoseWater Mist-  This one smells lovely, especially before bedtime.

OSEA Malibu's Sea Vitamin Boost- Perfect for quenching skin quickly! You can even use it over your makeup!

OSEA Malibu's Sea Minerals Mist-- another good option for some fresh hydration!

Face Oil

BeautyCounter's Hydrating Face Oil- I only use this occasionally when my face feels especially dry. (I can't seem to find the one I use, but they have a trio of wonderful oils, which I've linked to!)

Moisturizer

(Daytime) Norwex Naturally Timeless Day Cream- Yes! Norwex has skincare, and I love this moisturizer! It's silky and light, and soaks in quickly so I can apply my makeup.

(Nighttime) OSEA Malibu's Advanced Protection Cream- I'm on my second jar on this, and can't sing its praises enough! It's pricey, but one jar lasts me at least an entire year. Thick and creamy, and perfect for slathering on before bedtime. I'll often add a drop on Frankincense essential oil, which is great for skin. It smells luxurious!

Runner-up- I have a small bottle of BeautyCounter's Nourishing Day Cream, which I love. It's very light, and not greasy at all.

Face Mask!

OSEA Malibu's White Algae Mask- This stuff is delicious! My skin feels so fresh, clean, plump and bright after applying it. I do it about once a week, and you can even put it on overnight!

Currently in search of: A good face sunscreen (I've heard BeautyCounter's is the bomb! Gonna try that out first, I think!), and a nice eye cream!

  1. A sunscreen I've enjoyed using is Australian Gold, available at Ulta. I use the SPF 50 non-tinted :) Moisturizing, light weight, and doesn't have that weird banana scent!
