Malasadas, Dragon Maki and Some Awesome Shorts.

Last week, Chris' buddy, Joel, came out to visit for part of our stay-cation. The surf report predicted a big swell and he came in for three days just for the surf. Friday was his last evening with us, so we hopped in the car and headed to the west side of the island for a sunset picnic. 

Of course, we had to stop and pick up some sushi for dinner and hot, fresh cinnamon sugar malasadas from Leonard's for dessert.  If you haven't had malasadas, you are seriously missing out, my friends. 


This is my very favorite sushi, Dragon Maki. It might look nasty but it is so.freaking.good. I crave it all the time. Heck, I'm craving it right now. 




The guys were more concerned with the waves than the sunset or my picture taking.

Isn't the pattern on these shorts awesome? They make me happy. 

Also, I'm getting tons of life out of my fedoras by switching out the bands with headbands and fabric swatches around the house.

PS. Got some new paintings in the shop, including a relisted Sweetheart Tree and a brand new Dahlias that I think you will love!

    If I ever vacation in your area, we are going to go shopping together. I LOVE your taste and Forever 21 and Charlotta Russe are my favorite stores! Delia's is pretty cool too though. :-)

    I need those shorts. I don't know why but I've always avoided buying shorts and now I live somewhere where it's regularly 95+ and I don't own shorts. What is with me?! You look adorable!

    Yep, I love the shorts, too. And the fedora looks adorable on you! I'm not so much for hats on myself... like, aside from a ball cap... of which I have some cute pink ones, ha.

    The shorts are so cute! Love the colors and the whole outfit! By the way, I need to stop reading your blog because it's making me want to move to the ocean! I lived in Australia for a year and have been "homesick" for some beach living like this ever since!

    ohh my goodness. i have never heard of malasadas, but they look melt-in-your-mouth delicious. hmm i wonder if you can get them around her? i want one right now!

    over from the pleated poppy, i live in mililani and was so happy to see hawaii pictures!
    i am allergic to gluten but got to eat malasadas before finding out. MiSS them!
