Ruffles & Sparklers

As 2010 was being rung in last year, Chris and I were sound asleep in our bed. So this year, we vowed to celebrate properly. We brought in the New Year at our dear friends' Gina and Charlie's house. Lots of food, friends and fireworks--it was a great night! 

After quickly polling my twitter buddies, I curled my hair (well, attempted...it doesn't stay curled for long) and threw on a new ruffly one-shoulder dress in a pretty dark teal. i love ruffles, don't you?

I made home made jalapeƱo poppers and I'm excited to share the super easy recipe with you later this week! :) 

          





This photo is a little redundant but I think it's funny how sleepy my man looks. His bedtime is about 8pm lately, so 1:30am was a little rough for him.


Now for my favorite shots. The fireworks. In Hawaii, Fourth of July is nothing compared to New Year's Eve, when echos of fireworks boom the entire week and the smoke envelopes the island. This was the last year that private fireworks were allowed, so you can imagine, it was craaazy. I'm like a little girl when it comes to fireworks. I loved watching them on Friday night. 

I can totally see a painting series stemming from these firework pictures. 








And the sparkler shots, which I love!





We were partayed out.

    We were on the couch this year for the first time ever. We did a huge hike on the north shore and we were unable to finish it before dark. Oooops! We made it home at 8:30pm and my legs were so sore I could barely stand. But we managed to sip a lil bubbly and have a NYE kiss(my favorite part)!

    We were the ones who stayed in to, but after this years party, never again! To much fun to celebrate, especially with fabulous friends! I am so in love with your dress, yes, a big fan of ruffles!

    I love watching fireworks too. Don't like being close to them, but love them from afar!
